1- Who would have thought 10 years ago that we would be fighting for the protection of women in sports in court? But, here we are. Great job by Texas AG Ken Paxton for suing the Biden Regime.
Women's Sports Wins Huge Victory As Biden's Title IX Changes Go Down in Flames
QUOTE: Back in April, Joe Biden, following in Barack Obama's footsteps, unilaterally changed Title IX, which protects women and girls from discrimination in education, by reinterpreting the law to treat “gender identity” the same as biological sex. This move allowed biological males to play women's sports and gave them access to scholarships intended for women, as well as women's locker rooms, private spaces, and single-sex housing.
A federal judge in Texas, who called Biden's effort an "unlawful action," just shut that move down.
Title IX pertains exclusively to biological sex, with no references to “gender identity,” “gender expression,” or any other weird concept radical left-wing gender ideology creates out of thin air. It's ironic because Democrats have often portrayed themselves as champions of women's rights. In reality, they're beholden to radical left-wing gender ideology and couldn't care less about the privacy, dignity, and opportunities of women and girls.
District Judge Reed O’Connor ruled with Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who sued the Biden administration after it first proposed the Title IX changes. In his ruling, O’Connor explained that the Biden administration “engaged in unlawful agency action taken in excess of their authority, all while failing to adhere to the appropriate notice and comments requirements when doing so.”
O'Connor's ruling noted that schools that receive Title IX funding would face an "Impossible choice" under Joe Biden's proposed guidance. They must either revise policies to comply with federal guidance, which violates state law, or risk losing substantial funding.
2- At least we will be spared of this particular lunacy during the Summer Olympics.
‘Major Step to Protect Women’s Sport’: Trans Swimmer Lia Thomas Barred from Olympics After Losing Key Lawsuit
QUOTE: Lia Thomas, the infamous transgender swimmer who won so many NCAA women’s swimming titles in 2022, is barred from the 2024 Summer Olympics after losing a legal battle against the international group that governs swimming.
Thomas attempted to bring a legal case against World Aquatics at the court of arbitration for sport in hopes of vacating the group’s recent rules placing heavy restrictions on trans athletes. The rules effectively bar someone like Thomas from competing in international competitions and also bar him from being considered for a slot on the U.S. Women’s Swim Team, according to the Guardian.
Thomas argued that the rules should be declared “invalid and unlawful” because, he says, they violate the Olympics charter and the World Aquatics constitution.
The court disagreed with Thomas and ruled that he had no standing. The court said Thomas is “simply not entitled to engage with eligibility to compete in WA competitions” because he is not a current member of World Aquatics.
World Aquatics, though, stands by the scientific data that shows that males who reached puberty have natural advantages over the female body in swimming, with greater muscle structure, lung capacity, and stamina, among other benefits.
3- It's always good when one of the many rabid, radical, leftist hit-groups have fewer funds and workers.
Southern Poverty Law Center Fires 25% of Staff, Closes Multiple Departments.
QUOTE: The far-left Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has gutted its workforce, firing over 60 staffers and “essentially shuttering multiple departments.” Founded in 1971, the SPLC began its work by targeting remnants of the Ku Klux Klan in modern America, but swiftly expanded its remit to simply demonizing and attacking the mainstream political right. The group recently obtained an ‘F’ grade from charity regulators and watchdogs due to its hoarding of donor cash and internal expenses.
One of the organization’s most high-profile employees, Hannah Gais, said on Wednesday that the SPLC is sitting on “nearly a billion dollars in reserves” and blasted the organization’s management in agreement with the union that supposedly safeguards its employees.
In 2016, the SPLC was successfully sued by commentator Maajid Nawaz, a Muslim, after they branded him an “anti-Muslim extremist” for his focus on radical Islam and jihad. Nawaz, a former radical Muslim himself, was awarded over $3 million in the suit.
In 2021, the SPLC crashed the Christmas Gala of the New York Young Republican Club (NYYRC) in an attempt to smear members and catch them on camera saying untoward things. Their “investigation” turned up nothing, and the researchers involved were ridiculed on social media.
The group receives much of its cash from major charitable foundations, including Picowar, Fidelity, Schwab, and the notorious Unbound Philanthropy, which is also linked with Black Lives Matter and the UK-based “Hope Not Hate,” which routinely targets Brexit leader Nigel Farage.
4- Since it is rare, we like to point out when the handful of Republicans, with spines, stand up and fight back.
J.D. Vance, Senate Republicans Announce Blockade of Biden Nominees
QUOTE: Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) and Senate Republicans on Thursday announced a hold policy on numerous President Joe Biden nominees in response to the 46th president’s “radical lawfare” against former President Donald Trump and other political opponents.
Vance led an effort alongside Sens. Mike Lee (R-UT), Bill Hagerty (R-TN), Roger Marshall (R-KS), Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), and Eric Schmitt (R-MO) to block swift confirmation of roughly four dozen of Biden’s nominees throughout various positions of the government.
This includes judicial nominees, a nominee for deputy undersecretary for the Treasury Department, and a general counsel nominee for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI).
Under the blockade, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) would have to waste significant time to confirm the nominees.
5- Would this spanking new $4 BILLION refinery be being built if they weren't bullish on gasoline and diesel for the near future?
Houston energy company to build largest new refinery in half a century
QUOTE: A Houston company will construct the largest new refinery in the last 50 years in Brownsville, Texas.
The new refinery will process more than 160,000 barrels daily of gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel from shale oil production.
Element Fuel Holdings LLC is spending between $3 and $4 billion on the project, which will produce more than 160,000 barrels per day of gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel from shale oil production, according to a report by the Houston Business Journal.
"Since no one's built a refinery in 50 years, there's probably a better way to do it. Let's optimize it," Element Fuels founder and co-CEO John Calce told the business outlet.
The refinery will be located in the Port of Brownsville and constructed in three phases.
The company expects to provide 1,000 new jobs in Brownsville and grow its Houston headcount by about 80 employees.
6- Government has offered subsidies and tax incentives. It has waged an unprecedented propaganda campaign for electric cars. And yet, people still don't want to buy this product for their families. It is a good sign that government has so far failed to convince us of this particular scam. It is practice for future attempts on more important matters.
GM lowers EV production targets amid slow demand, says EVs will show 'variable profit'
QUOTE: General Motors is pulling back its electric vehicle production target this year and adjusting the timing on its profit targets because demand for EVs is not growing at the pace initially expected.
GM CFO Paul Jacobson said Tuesday that GM would trim its targeted production of its new EVs in 2024 from between 200,000 and 300,000 to between 200,000 and 250,000.
Jacobson said GM still believes it can be "variable profit positive" on its EVs at the "low 200,000" production range. GM promised investors earlier this year that it would show variable profit in EVs by the second half of the year. Variable profit is when the revenue GM earns from selling the vehicle exceeds the direct cost of producing it. The calculation excludes corporate or “fixed” costs, measuring only the costs that go into the car and the revenue earned from the car directly.
7- Every win like this blocks an avenue for Democrats to cheat.
RNC declares 'victory' in judge ruling on Michigan secretary of state's signature verification rule
QUOTE: A Michigan judge partially ruled against Democratic Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson's lenient guidance on signature verification, following a lawsuit brought by the Republican National Committee.
On Wednesday, Michigan Court of Claims Judge Christopher Yates ruled "that the 'initial presumption' of validity in signature verification of absentee-ballot applications and envelopes mandated by the December 2023 guidance manual" issued by Benson "is incompatible with the Constitution and laws of the State of Michigan."
The RNC, Michigan Republican Party, and the National Republican Congressional Committee filed the lawsuit.
RNC Chairman Michael Whatley said in a statement Thursday, “This RNC legal victory confirms the importance of mail ballot safeguards in Michigan’s Constitution. The Secretary of State’s covert attempts to sidestep these rules were rightfully rejected by the court, exposing that her attacks on election integrity have no substance. This win is just the latest development in our ongoing fight to promote fair and transparent elections in the Great Lakes State.”
8- A prominent and well-known Florida attorney has had enough of the Democrats attempts to jail President Trump. He has donated $500,000 to the Trump campaign. This is even more amazing given that he is a former donor to Biden and Hillary.
Coral Gables attorney Hugh Culverhouse, Jr. gives $500K to Trump
QUOTE: Hugh Franklin Culverhouse, Jr. — former assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Florida and the son of the former owner of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers — has given former President Donald Trump half a million dollars for his presidential campaign in protest of his felony conviction.
Trump was convicted on 34 counts in a New York state case of falsifying documents to hide hush-money payments to a porn star in order to influence the outcome of the 2016 election.
Culverhouse told the Herald/Times this week that he feels like the case against Trump was politically motivated, as are the six other criminal and civil cases against him, and violate Trump’s constitutional right to testify.
“Anything he says on that witness stand can be used in all of the remaining suits,” Culverhouse, who practices constitutional law, said. “So, you basically have a violation of the Fifth Amendment.” Culverhouse added: “The bottom line: that’s not kosher. That’s not fair. That’s not constitutional.”
Culverhouse, who is 75 and practices law at his firm in Coral Gables, has a long record of cutting large political checks to both Democrats and Republicans. Federal records show he donated to the Biden campaign and even the anti-Trump Lincoln Project in 2020, but has more recently been a big supporter of Republican causes, contributing more than $750,000 to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ failed presidential campaign.
Culverhouse, who said he’s currently a registered Republican but has been an independent in the past, said he voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Joe Biden in 2020. But since Biden took office, Culverhouse said he’s become increasingly conservative. Culverhouse “lost faith” in Biden after he withdrew from Afghanistan in 2021.“You don’t walk out on your allies and just flee,” Culverhouse said.
Culverhouse said he may give more money to Trump this cycle, depending on how the other cases against him go.
9- As we often warn, do not take polling too serious but watch for trends.
We found this comparison between June 2020 and June 2024 very interesting. This is from left-leaning FiveThirty Eight polling company.
