Dear Patriot,

As we noted in Wednesday’s newsletter, our staff is taking several days off to attend a family reunion. We will resume our regular newsletter schedule next Wednesay.

BUT … to avoid 10,000s of emails concerned that you did not receive today’s Good News Friday, we are sending this special For Your Information email.

The platform we use to distribute our newsletters is, of course, Substack; which has become very popular with bloggers, podcasters and newsletter generators … but, as with any on-line platform, it does occasionally experience glitches and is constantly upgrading its software to improve its delivery and accounting functions. Issues do arise.

ANY CONCERNS that you might experience with receiving our newsletters and/or updating your subscription whether you are a PAID or FREE subscriber … ALWAYS feel free to contact us directly with ANY concerns. We investigate any/all issues and resolve them ASAP. …. even those pointing out the RARE grammatical error !!

The following updated information might answer some of the concerns that our subscribers occasionally experience.

How to Fix an Email that is not receiving the News Letter Publication:

If you've signed up for the Defending The Republic newsletter and haven't received your first email or you've been receiving emails and suddenly they've stopped coming, don't fret!

Here are some troubleshooting tips to help you get emails again from your favorite Substack writers at Defending The Republic

Tip: Posts can always be viewed on the web version of the publication or the Substack app.

Try testing your email address

To test whether your email delivery is working for a publication:

1. Navigate to:

https://defendingtherepublic.substack.com/account/email-test

2. Sign into the publication and select, "Send test email".

If you see a "You have disabled email delivery for this account" message when testing the email delivery, this means that you've unsubscribed from the publication.

To receive emails again, you'll need to re-subscribe to the publication. You can do that by going to:
https://defendingtherepublic.substack.com/subscribe

Check your email settings

If you have Gmail, check your Promotions tab. If the Defending The Republic Newsletter is in that section, move it to your Primary inbox.
Make sure that your email address on file is correct.
Check your spam folder to see if emails have gone there. If so, make sure to "mark as not spam" in your email client.
Add the publication's Substack email address to your contact list. All posts will be sent from this address: defendingtherepublic@substack.com

This can often cause intermediate email filters to allow incoming messages.

If you are on a corporate or government email account, talk to your IT department and tell them to whitelist the publication's Substack email address. They often have email filters that are out of your individual control and can quickly resolve the issue.

There may be an email block

Go to your Substack account and see if there's an "Email block" message from Substack.

Follow the instructions on how to clear the email block

Check your Settings on the Substack App

If you have the Substack app installed, head to the Notifications section in your Settings.

If you have "Prefer push" selected, this means that you'll only receive push notifications to your phone when there's a new post. Select "Prefer email" or "Both email and push" to resume email delivery of new posts.

Quick Settings Change to Enable Emails

Here are the steps for the subscriber to enable emails:

1. Sign into their Substack account

2. Click the profile icon in the top right

3. Go to Settings > Notifications

4. Review and enable email notifications for your publication

5. If you see "You have disabled email delivery", you’ll need to re-subscribe by visiting your publication page,
